URL: http://brucetmc.com About: My name is Bruce Tsai-Meu-Chong. Born in 1983, grew up in the grimey Oss West, graduated in 2009 as illustrator in the city of Utrecht. I’m currently living in Rotterdam where I work as an illustrator and paint and draw for exhibitions. And I am half of gallery OPPERCLAES. My work is basicly a way to translate the beautiful, tragic, stupid and aggravating things I notice on the web, the television and closeby. The work you saw or will see is analog, this because of the love I cherish for lines and textures. I’m not a one minded artist and easily drawn to different ways of solving a problem. Graphite, acryllics and pens are my preferred weapons of choice. Get Inspired by: cmd C: The beautiful, tragic, stupid and aggravating things I notice on the web, the television and closeby. Warphotography, religion, skateboardgraphics, animal/wildlife documentaries and good music. A more direct way of finding inspiration: Get up at half past 8, drink 4 cups of coffee put on some music and browse for a couple of hours, make some breakfast, go trough some imagebooks, start drawing something or paint and hope I don’t get distracted to much. Get some groceries and cook for the lady. All of the above is combined with my attention-hooked cat.

About: Born in 1951 in San Francisco, California, I began drawing and painting at the age of 27. I continued to create artwork as a hobby for 20 years during which time I owned and operated an insurance brokerage firm in San Francisco. I sold the firm in 1998 at age 47 after my home and art collection was destroyed by a fire. I then moved to Los Angeles in 2003 where I began my full time art career at the age of 52. Get Inspired by: I’m fascinated by structures in nature of decay and rejuvenation. Rebirth from a hibernation. The cycles of nature in the raw. I am fascinated by the way man strives to mimic nature in order to fulfill aspirations to become what we perceive as God. I am frustrated by our inability to express things of importance through our language. The possibilities of augmenting life so as to prolong it. The mixing of organic life created in Nature, and man’s attempts to build similar structures. This gives me hope, for I dread that death is nonexistence. I am fascinated by our reinvention of science. I am fearful that it is to late to avoid a coming cataclysm. I fear personal death and the death of the world as I have known it. These are some of the ideas that inspire the images I paint.
